Desktop Projects
We create desktop software to automate business practices, making a business more
competitive through better use of computers. In addition, products can be
created for the benefit of the business' customers that can be sold or
incorporated into a wider product

A C# program using Visual
Studio 2005 to monitor several measures of a business' financial
performance. The user defines what measures they want, whether they
are counts, real numbers, or dollar amounts. They can subtotal for the
day and total for the day. Output is provided as graphs, with up to
three periods being plotted for comparison. In addition, summarized
outputs can also be shown or printed.

An Access program is linked to a SQL database
for a financial consultant. The application keeps track of customer
assets, reconciling between two disparate systems. It also implements the
purchase and sale of several types of securities, managing to keep client money
invested in the most appropriate way. Finally, it implements
algorithms to project stock performance for inclusion in the portfolios. I
was able to take a program that barely ran, and make it
run reliably, as well as add new features allowing
many changes to the business.

I designed and built an application to monitor data
from a new instrument. New features included real time receipt of
messages over an internal network or the Internet while displaying and
analyzing the data. This project was done from the beginning using
VB6. Later, it was updated to VB.NET. Tools
Include:
- C# and Visual Basic
- Visual Studio
- Access and VBA
- SQL Server
- Crystal Reports
